Priyanka Chopra to pull a Mary Kom in Bhansali’s next

Priyanka Chopra is all set to test her mettle to the core, as the actress will next be seen playing Mary Kom, the Indian Olympic medal winning boxer.

Reportedly, Priyanka has been roped in by Sanjay Leela Bhansali in Mary Kom’s biopic. It is learnt that PeeCee will have to undergo rigorous training for four long months, and that too, from Mary Kom herself. She will learn the basics of boxing, i.e. the foot-and-arm movement, feinting, sparring etc and also there would be a grinding session, as Priyanka will move into bouts and throw actual punches at the opponents. She will have to bear a few punches too.

Priyanka will have to be physically and mentally strong.

Kareena Kapoor gives details about her item track ‘Fevicol Se’

Kareena Kapoor will soon be seen in a raunchy item number in Dabangg 2. The dance number is full of pelvic thrusts. This is the first time she will seen doing something like this. The actress says, it was pure fun shooting for the song.

“It was great fun. I loved the song… for the first time I have done a pelvic thrust. I have never done that before and Farah Khan has shot it amazingly. I am looking forward to it because it’s a fun song. I hope people love it,” Kareena said.

Sports Illustrated stunner Kate Upton will be starring in a Super Bowl commercial for Mercedes-Benz. One imagines she'll be looking pretty hot in it.

The 60-second ad starring the 20-year-old is said to be “a tongue-in-cheek depiction of how far a person might - or might not - go to get their heart’s desire.”

The car commercial, filmed last weekend, will also star Usher, according to reports. The curvaceous blonde, incidentally, doesn’t even have a driver’s license.

The star cast reads as Dharmesh, Salman Khan, Prince, Mayuresh and Vrushali, all contestants of the Indian dance reality show DID (Dance India Dance) with Lauren Gottlieb of the “So You Think You can dance” fame taking the female lead slot and also with cameos by Madhuri Dixit, Prabhu Deva and Ganesh Archarya, Remo pictures this film as the ultimate dance cine Indian audiences has ever been witness to.

The baby girl who had the nation waiting for, a year back is finally a year old today. More than Abhi-Ash’s films, the anticipation and euphoria surrounding Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s delivery were mammoth last year. Today, as Aaradhya with a double ‘A’ turns one; Grandpa Bachchan took off to his social networking Twitter profile to chip in a beautiful picture of the adorable Beti B with her lovely parents Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Beautifully dressed in a pink dress along with an utterly cute and delicious floral bow-hair band, Aaradhya had reasons enough to make people cuddle her!

Bal Thackeray dies at 86; Shiv Sena appeals for calm

Mumbai: Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray died in Mumbai at 3:33pm today. He was 86.

His immediate family including son and successor Uddhav, nephew Raj Thackeray and the top leadership of the Shiv Sena were with him at his Bandra residence, Matoshree, in his last moments.

The death was announced in a brief statement by doctors from Lilavati Hospital who had been treating him.

Mr Thackeray's body will be taken in a procession to Shiv Sena Bhavan, the party headquarters situated at Shivaji Park, where it will be kept in state for public viewing from 7 am tomorrow. The Sena supremo used to address massive rallies at Shivaji Park every year.

Massive crowds of Shiv Sena supporters gathered outside the Thackeray residence within minutes of the announcement. A large contingent of police, State Reserve Police and Rapid Action Force personnel have been deployed to keep the crowds under control. Thousands of personnel from the Mumbai Police have also been deployed across the city, since there is apprehension of some violence. Sena leader Rahul Narvekar has appealed for calm to all party supporters. Earlier too, Uddhav Thackeray had told Shiv Sainiks that "no damage should come to the name of Matoshree".

So far Mumbai is calm, though shops and other establishments have begun to shut down in several areas, including the Sena stronghold of Dadar.

Mr Thackeray is survived by sons Jaidev and Uddhav, who is the executive president of the Shiv Sena, which Mr Thackeray founded in 1966.

Hundreds of Shiv Sena supporters who had gathered outside Mr Thackeray's home broke down and tried to console each other. Thousands more are expected to reach Matoshree to express their grief. Security, already present in the area around Matoshree as well as Sena Bhavan, has been stepped up again.

Mr Thackeray had been unwell since July this year when he was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital for breathlessness and constipation. He was released after a week in hospital, and was being nursed at his Bandra residence, Matoshree. The Sena chief was under constant medical supervision, with a team of doctors stationed at his home.

Mr Thackeray's health had dipped to very critical on Monday, but he made a recovery of sorts. Thousands of Shiv Sainiks had gathered outside Matoshree along with media crews. On Wednesday night at 2 am, Mr Thackeray's son Uddhav and grandson Aditya told party workers, "All efforts are on. Please pray."

Hundreds of policemen and paramilitary Rapid Action Force personnel had been called in on Wednesday night, with barricades to restrict movement around the area. Party workers began gathering at the Thackeray residence as news spread that the Shiv Sena chief's condition had deteriorated. Sources said top police officials of the city had been informed of Mr Thackeray's death in advance to give them time to make adequate security arrangements before a public announcement was made.

Many VIPs are expected to visit the Thackeray home to pay their respects. Actors Amitabh Bachchan, along with son Abhishek, and Sanjay Dutt had paid a visit to Matoshree late on Wednesday night.

Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray passes away

Mumbai: Bal Thackeray is no more. The Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thackeray passed away on Saturday after protracted illness at his home ‘Matoshree’ in suburban Mumbai.

His demise was announced by his doctor Jaleel Parkar. Confirming Shiv Sena supremo’s death, he said, “Honourable Bal Thackerayji breathed his last at 3.33 pm.”

“Bal Thackeray had gone into cardiac arrest. We tried our best, but could not revive him despite our best efforts (sic),” Parkar further said.

Thousands of Shiv Sainiks had been standing in vigil outside his home in upscale Bandra East area of Mumbai for the last 72 hours as the news got out about Thackeray's failing health.

The supporters who had converged outside ‘Matoshree’ broke into tears on hearing the news. 

Shiv Sena chief’s funeral procession will begin tomorrow at 10 am from ‘Matoshree’. Balasaheb is expected to be cremated between 3-4 pm.

Keeping in mind a possible unrest in Mumbai, state government has placed heavy security across city. Approximately 20,000 policemen are out on the roads of the financial capital.

He is survived by his sons, political heir and Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray and filmmaker Jaidev. A widower, Thackeray's wife Meena and his eldest son Bindhumadhav passed away in 1996.

Thackeray was ailing for about two years and was under regular medical treatment at home. In the last week, his health deteriorated sharply.

According to party leaders, a virtual ICU had been recreated at Matoshri with all emergency equipment and medical and para-medical staff on duty round-the-clock.

The passing away of 86-year-old ‘Balasaheb’, as Thackeray Senior was fondly called, has created a void that will be difficult to fill for the Shiv Sena, which has always revolved around him. To party workers he was more like the family patriarch and not just the founder of the Shiv Sena.

As much as he was revered and adored, he was prone to controversies that he kicked up with his provocative, at times vitriolic, statements meant to fire up Marathi nationalism and Hindu hard line politics.

Thackeray had been keeping unwell for some time and had been under the care of a team of doctors from the Leelavati Hospital.

At the Sena's Dussehra rally in Mumbai last week, he addressed party workers via a recorded video message, asking them to support his son Uddhav and grandson Aditya. “I have collapsed physically... I can't walk... I am tired,” he said. Hundreds of policemen and RAF personal have been deployed in the area and elsewhere in the city as a precautionary measure.

Bal Thackeray, a former cartoonist, had founded the Shiv Sena in 1966 as a "sons of the soil" movement. The Shiv Sena later formed government in the state with the BJP from 1995 to 1999.

Glamour world personalities like Amitabh Bachchan with his son Abhishek, Rishi Kapoor and brother Randhir, Salim Khan and son Salman Khan, Manoj Kumar, Madhur Bhandarkar and Bappi Lahiri visited Matoshri to enquire after Thackeray's health during the week.

Bollywood Stars Visit Ailing Bal Thackeray At Matoshree

Matoshree saw an attendance of the high and mighty as well as commoners who came to pay a visit to the leader who has created ripples in the political arena.

Commonly known as the tiger of Maharashtra, Bal Thackeray has been suffering from age related ailments and is supposedly in a critical condition. Hearing this created ripples amongst the masses. Even the super stars of Bollywood were not far behind and thronged Matoshree to enquire about his health.

Some of the stars who paid a visit to Matoshree were Salman Khan along with his family members, Madhur Bhandarkar, The Kapoor brothers- Randhir and Rishi, Manoj Kumar. Amitabh Bachchan whose granddaughter turned a year old today too paid a second visit to check on the health of the ailing Thackeray.

Film maker Madhur Bhandarkar, actor Mahesh Manjrekar and the elusive Nana Patekar too were spotted visiting the patriarch.

Sanjay Dutt too came with wife Manyata in tow. Amongst other visitors Juhi Chawla, Yoga Guru Baba Ramdev, Mithun Chakraborty, Vikram Gokhale and others were seen paving their way towards Matoshree.

Besides Bollywood, the high and mighty industrialists and political bigwigs too cut across party lines and paid a visit to the ailing Thackeray.

 

 

But the most awe inspiring thing is that the masses gave up on their festivities and celebrations to be by the side of their leader.
This just shows the reverence he has in the heart of the aam janta.

Selena Gomez SHUTS DOWN "Desperate" Justin Bieber Reconciliation Attempts, Reports Claim

Justin Bieber desperately wants to win Selena Gomez back.

She wants none of this, according to dueling reports today.

"He is texting her like crazy trying to stay in her good graces," a source told the Huffington Post, noting that a "desperate" Bieber will stop at nothing.

"If either one of them slows down and they actually have the chance to spend time together again, he is sure they will end up back together."

Selena, who has spent the last day blocking her phone and other communication methods so Justin cannot contact her, may have missed that memo.

He's been living it up - and reportedly contemplating nailing supermodels - but he's promised to stop texting other girls if Selena will take him back.

Selena wants no contact whatsoever with Justin, however, so whatever they tried to hash out during their big sit-down Sunday apparently didn't work.

She has blocked her phone (which includes texting). She's still following Justin on Twitter, but he's been blocked from all other forms of contact.

And get this: According to TMZ, the Justin Bieber-Selena Gomez breakup "absolutely, positively involved another woman" ... though it's unclear who.

There's been speculation that it's a Victoria's Secret model, but it's unclear. All we know is Selena has "trust issues" and is repulsed by Miley Cyrus.

Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek injured while visiting Balasaheb Thackeray

Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan got injured when they went to pay a visit to the Shivsena supremo Balasaheb Thackeray, who is very critical and is fighting for his life, at ‘Matoshree’ yesterday night.

Tweeted Amitabh Bachchan on the social networking site, “Yes both Abhishek and me were injured with cuts, but are fine and back home … the doctors at ‘Matoshree’ attended on us!”

Speaking about ailing Thackeray, Big tweeted, “Balasaheb Thackeray : a fighter all his life, fights his life !! Prayers needed now ! When I fought for my life after ‘Coolie’ accident, he came to visit me in hospital, with a cartoon he had drawn – Yamraj defeated ! Yamraj – God of Death, defeated by me..wish I was as proficient a cartoonist as he, for tonight I would wish to draw that for him!”

“When Jaya and I married, he called us to his house .. and the rituals that were conducted was of the ‘bahu’ coming home ! From that day on he always treated us as family,” Posted Big B.

He further wrote, “When I was flown in to Mumbai from Bangalore in semi conscious state after ‘Coolie’ accident, it was his ambulance that took me to BC – BC : Breach Candy Hospital When the Bofors Scandal accusations on us were at its peak, he called me home and asked “tell me the truth, are you involved ?” …. When I said “NO !”, he said “Then do not worry about anything. I am with you. You are an actor, go do what you are best at”.”

* United States of America (US) – $330,000

* United Arab Emirates (UAE) – $414,000

* United Kingdom (UK) – £158,000

* Rest Of The World – $300,000

Total – $1,300,000 (around 7 Crores INR)

Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma, Jab Tak Hai Jaan is likely to grow its overseas business over the weekend. The movie is anyways collecting good moolah on the domestic front.
